Marathon runner and journalist from Sarajevo, Bedrudin Brljavac, will run for 12 hours to help sick children and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Anadolu.
Brljavac will run for 12 hours at the “Vils Ultramarathon”, which will be held on October 7 and 8 in Sarajevo, for sick children and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, the Pomozi.ba Treatment Fund, which citizens can support by calling the number 17021 and donating two KM.
“I decided to run the ‘Vils Ultramarathon’ for humanitarian purposes, primarily for sick children and our fellow citizens, because I think it is very important. It is important that we all show empathy together and help our sick fellow citizens. Maybe it does not mean much to us financially sense, but it will surely be of great help to them. I think that in today’s world we need to show much more empathy and solidarity, especially towards the sick,” said Brljavac, journalist of Anadolu Agency.
He pointed out that the 12-hour ultramarathon is a very demanding race in which the participants must be physically and mentally ready.
“Given that the ultramarathon is a very demanding race, I have been preparing intensively for two to three months. I used to run more than 100 kilometers a week, first of all I increased the length of training, which is very important in ultra distances,” added Brljavac.
More than 110 runners will participate in the “Vils Ultramarathon” in races of six, 12 and 24 hours.
“I will run a race lasting 12 hours. I am aware that it is quite a demanding race, but I have learned a lot about how to behave during it. Experienced runners claim that it is important to run smart in ultra races, take nutrients on time, food and liquids so that the body can withstand the effort,” Brljavac explained.
Citizens can support Bedrudin’s race and the Pomozi.ba Treatment Fund by purchasing kilometers and paying to one of the accounts listed below.
