The Belarusian authorities announced on Wednesday the closure of the Ukrainian Consulate in the city of Brest, in the southwest of the country, and a reduction in the diplomatic staff of kyiv in the country, considering that there has been “interference” in their affairs. internal.

Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anatoli Glaz said in a statement that “in accordance with Article 11 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Belarus has decided to reduce the number of Ukrainian diplomats on its territory.”

Thus, he has indicated that “for years”, Ukraine has carried out “unfriendly actions with the irresponsible objective of destroying interstate relations with Belarus, as well as business and ties between its people.”

“There came a point where the Ukrainian authorities began to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus,” he clarified before stating that the number of diplomats will be reduced to five people.
