MADRID, 10 Nov. (.) –
FC Barcelona achieved its third victory in as many days of the women’s ‘Champions League’ this Wednesday by beating German Hoffenheim (4-0) thanks to a double and an assist from Alexia Putellas, the best of the match, as well as two others goals from Jennifer Hermoso and Marta Torrejón.
Jonathan Giráldez’s team had no problems to score the 9 possible points in the highest continental competition. This Wednesday, at the Johan Cruyff stadium, the current European champion was splendid and left the match resolved in the first 20 minutes. Jenni Hermoso was in charge of opening the scoring with a good header after a free kick by Lieke Martens.
The goal intimidated the Germans, who were bottled up in their field after brilliant minutes from the Catalan team. At 19 minutes, with a foul on the edge of the area, Barça sealed the 2-0 thanks to a sensational shot from Alexia Putellas, who also scored the third of the night after a resounding failure by the visiting goalkeeper.
The culé forward launched without excessive danger, to the center of the goal, but his shot slipped between the legs of Martina Tutekovic after half an hour. The 3-0 left a Hoffenheim without options who tried against it, but always found the serious Barça defense, who did not grant options to their rivals.
In the second half, and also with great dominance from Barça, the scoreboard only moved once. It was a quarter of an hour to go when Marta Torrejón, with a chopped header at the far post, took advantage of a measured cross by Alexia Putellas to establish the final 4-0.
In this way, Barça leads group C in the Women’s Champions League with solvency with full triumphs. The Catalans add 9 points and lead Arsenal by three, second classified. His next game on the occasion of matchday four will be in a week – also against Hoffenheim – but away from home.
