MADRID, Dec. 16 (.) –
Atlético Baleares and Atlético Mancha Real became the main protagonists of the second round of the Copa del Rey this Thursday after eliminating Getafe with a tremendous defeat (5-0) and Granada (1-0), while the Betis and Valencia needed extra time to end the career of Talavera (2-4) and Arenteiro (1-3), respectively.
In Palma de Mallorca, Getafe took a good ‘tantorantán’ from Atlético Baleares, a blushing defeat that ends their participation in the ‘K.O’ tournament, of which they are runners-up twice. This Thursday, the islands did not give an option to a Geta who suffered from the beginning and ended up humiliated by asking for the time.
The team led by Xavi Calm, second classified in group B of the First RFEF, had a great game and only took six minutes to get ahead. Pedro Orfila was in charge of opening the account and also marking the second one minute before the break with an accurate header. By then, the azulones were already with ten for a direct red to Cabaco.
In the second half, Atlético Baleares confirmed their feat with three more goals in boots from Dioni, Manel Martínez and Vinicius Tanque, who closed the score with 5-0 and the surprising elimination of Getafe, the fourth ‘First’ that falls after Alavés, Levante and Granada. The pupils of Quique Sánchez Flores will focus their efforts on achieving salvation in a difficult campaign.
In Jaén, Atlético Mancha Real was the other hero of the night after finishing off Granada thanks to a goal from José Enrique at 20 minutes into the game. A sensational shot, first and foremost, culminating in an exquisite cross from the right wing. The party hardened and those at home knew how to play with the despair of the Nasrid people.
Robert Moreno’s team woke up in the final act, but was unable to reach the Second RFEF team, which certifies a historic pass in its 37 years of life. It is the first time that they will be among the 32 best clubs in the Cup.
For their part, Betis suffered the unspeakable in their match against Talavera de la Reina (2-4) which was complicated from the beginning. After five minutes he was already losing due to a penalty transformed by captain Góngora. However, the reaction of Manuel Pellegrini’s team was immediate and Borja Iglesias stifled the local spirit.
The scoreboard did not move again until game time with another maximum penalty, this time in favor of the Andalusians. Joaquín was in charge of marking and scoring the 1-2 that seemed definitive. But, on the contrary, the La Mancha team took the duel to extra time with a bit ‘in extremis’ by Perales after taking advantage of a rejection in the heart of the area. The Prado was falling with emotion.
It was then that Betis pressed the accelerator to the bottom and solved a tie that had been uphill up to two times. First Diego Lainez, in the 116th minute, and three later, Sergio Canales, sentenced the Verdiblanco triumph to be in the round of 32.
In the same way, with suffering and in extra time, Valencia overcame the second round cup against Arenteiro de Orense. The 1-3 achieved by José Bordalás’ team was woven in extra time after Magisano tied Musah’s goal in minute 1. The ‘che’ sentenced the ticket with goals from Hugo Guillamón, who scored from the heel, and Manu Vallejo, who completed the orange victory.
In addition, in other matches this Thursday, Club Atlético Osasuna had to overcome Deportivo de la Coruña with goals from Kike García and Ante Budimir (1-2), Mallorca thrashed Llanera (0-6) with a double from Aleksandar Sedlar ; and Almería and Mirandés defeated Amorebieta and Lugo at home in the duels between ‘Segundo’, respectively by the same result (1-2).
