At least ten dead and dozens injured in a possible gas explosion in Karachi

MADRID, Dec. 18 (.) –

At least 10 people have been killed and dozens injured as a result of a possible gas explosion that has practically destroyed a building in the Pakistani city of Karachi, the largest in the country.

The provisional number of victims has been confirmed by the director of the Trauma Center of the Shahid Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Sabir Memon, to the Pakistani television channel Geo TV.

Four of the injured are in critical condition, according to Dr. Memon.

Despite the fact that the first investigations of the Police point to the gas leak as a result of the detonation, in the place, the neighborhood of Sher Shah Paracha Chowk, there is now a bomb disposal unit, while the Police have cordoned off area.

Neighbors of the place have mobilized to accompany the firefighters in the search for survivors under the rubble of the building.
