Apple plans to delay iPadOS 16 release to improve Stage Manager, says Gurman

MADRID, Aug. 4 (Portaltic/EP) –

Manzana studies delaying the launch of the next update of ‘software’ of its tablets for a month, iPad OS 16to enhance the feature that facilitates multitasking on devices, Stage Manager.

The Cupertino technology company is used to jointly launching major updates to the iPad and iPhone software, iPadOS and iOS, respectively.

However, as the Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman recalls, the arrival of iPadOS 16 faces a possible month of delay, since Apple is still working on one of the main capabilities of this operating system, Stage Manager.

This novelty, whose details were announced in early June by Gurman himself Gurman himself, will allow the user to carry out several tasks at the same time, since it gives him the ability to change the size of the ‘apps’ in overlapping windows.

The analyst now points out that part of the users and developers who have had access to the iPadOS 16 beta have criticized this new function for its bugs, as well as for its interface and lack of compatibility with most iPads.

To implement improvements in this tool, the company would have planned to delay its launch. This staggering would also allow it to devote a large portion of its engineering resources to completing iOS 16, the software update that will come bundled with iPhone 14.

Gurman points out that this postponement could also lead to the launch of a new Apple tablet, since the company is planning to present an updated iPad Pro with an M2 chip, as well as a simple iPad model with a USB-C port.

Finally, remember that software releases have been delayed this year, since the public beta base of its latest updates has started later than usual.

Also, remember that Apple also plans to integrate Stage Manager into macOS Ventura, which has been available in public beta since last July and is scheduled to be released for Mac in October.
