An Israeli security guard was killed, on Friday, in a shooting in the “Ariel” settlement in the northern West Bank, according to Hebrew media.
The official “Kan” channel reported that “a security guard was shot dead by unknown persons at the entrance to the settlement of Ariel (near the city of Salfit) in the northern West Bank.”
The channel said, “There is a suspicion of an operation on a nationalist background.”
In turn, the Israeli army said in a statement seen by Anadolu Agency: “The two suspects were riding in a car to the entrance to the city of Ariel, and they shot the security guard at the guard post, and then fled.”
The statement added: “The IDF and Shin Bet forces began pursuing the suspects, in addition to activating extensive intelligence efforts and closing roads in the area.”
The Israeli army neither confirmed nor denied the security guard’s death.
Recently, Palestinians launched attacks on Israel, killing 13 people, the last of which was on April 7, when a Palestinian opened fire in Tel Aviv, killing two Israelis, and wounding 9 others, before he was killed hours after the incident.
