Alonso: “We could have finished sixth, I felt much faster than my rivals”

MADRID, July 10 (.) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) has assured that he could “have finished sixth” in the Austrian Grand Prix, in which he was finally tenth after making a double stop when he felt “many vibrations in the tires”, and has recognized that he he felt “much quicker” than his rivals for points.

“It was a difficult race. Starting from the back we had a lot more pace, but we were all on a DRS train and nobody was overtaking. We lost a lot of time there. In the end, we could have finished sixth, but we had to do two pit stops, one after another, because I had a lot of vibrations in the tires, I don’t know what was going on,” he told DAZN.

In spite of everything, the Spaniard stated that the sensations with the car were very positive. “Both Silverstone and this have been my two best races. There we could finish fifth and here only tenth. I felt much faster than the cars we were fighting, and that’s a good feeling,” he concluded.
