The Spanish MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) confessed that it is good for him that the battle at the British Grand Prix is open in his fight for the World Championship with the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), after the start of the action with the free.
“I’m happy overall with my feeling today. After so long I was even nervous before I went to sleep last night. I enjoyed today. The goal today was to feel the bike again and I did. I felt comfortable and I’m ready and happy.” he said in statements to MotoGP.com, after being fifth this Friday.
Espargaró, second in the World Championship 21 points behind Quartararo, pointed to a “fun” weekend at Silverstone. “The objective is to start on the front row, Suzuki has joined the party, Ducati and Fabio, Yamaha, they are always strong, also my partner, it will be fun. If I want to cut points from Fabio it is good to have more riders fighting up,” he said.
“Silverstone is always special because I made the first podium for Aprilia, I will always remember it as a good circuit for us. But I think that this year we are stronger everywhere. We are fast, also Viñales”, he finished, after a day dominated by the Quartararo leader.
