About a thousand women have voluntarily enlisted in the Ukrainian Army since the beginning of the Russian invasion

MADRID, July 7. (.) –

The Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, has highlighted that there are at least a thousand women who have voluntarily enlisted in the Ukrainian Army since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24.

“From February 24 until today, about a thousand women have enlisted. They are the ones who came and declared their desire to mobilize,” said Maliar, who has denied that since 2014 – the year in which the first Russian-Ukrainian war began — no women have been mobilized by force.

In addition, he has advanced that the possibility of imposing compulsory military registration for women in the new legislation scheduled for October 1, 2022 is not on the table for now.

This week, Maliar herself had to come out to deny the “fake news” coming from Russia in which it was claimed that Ukraine had initiated plans to forcibly mobilize Ukrainian women for war.

On the occasion of the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, declared martial law with which he sought to mobilize the bulk of the population, with all men between 18 and 60 years of age prohibited from leaving.
