MADRID, Nov. 21 (EDIZIONES/Portaltic) –
The drones have become an ally of the content creators, offering them the possibility of recording unique images wherever they go. For a while, many people thought that piloting them was a complicated task, suitable for a few, but DJI changed the rules of the game with its ‘Mini’ family and we have put its new DJI Mini 4 Pro to the test to confirm if this experience is suitable. for all audiences.
This article is not a technical review about the specifications of the device, which we will also review, but a chronicle of that first drone flight and the sensations that DJI manages to transmit to that novice user. The quick conclusion is that the only barrier between the user and those spectacular images from above is only the price -1,129 euros, the most complete pack-. But we are going to explain it step by step so that it is better understood.
The ‘unboxing’ of the DJI Mini 4 Pro leaves us with a drone, folded on itself, weighing only 249 grams, which is one of its main attractions. Photography or video enthusiasts, accustomed to carrying their heavy equipment, will discover with relief how light the drone is, the DJI RC 2 remote control and the three flight batteries that are included. In addition, it comes in a bag with perfect dimensions to fit all these elements and we can carry it comfortably.
Its lightweight design not only guarantees power transport it easilybut also complies with drone regulations in most countries and regions, to offer the freedom to take off without problems. In any case, it is always important to check the spaces where you can safely fly the drone, respecting local regulations and restrictions.
THE FLIGHT EXPERIENCE
We approach the Madrid municipality of Prádena del Rincón for this first drone flight experience. It must be admitted that a first flight with a device valued at more than a thousand euros always gives a bit of an impression, but The operation is so intuitive that in a matter of seconds you already take control of it and you start to enjoy the 30 minutes that the battery lasts on average.
To take off and land, simply find a flat surface and simply By pressing a button, the drone will take to the air or return to the ground. From there, and avoiding very windy days, the drone is easily handled thanks to two ‘joysticks’: with one of them you raise, lower and rotate, while with the other you move laterally, forward and backward. With the rest of the buttons we can change the orientation of the lens (which will allow us to take overhead shots) or use the zoom (up to 2x in photos and 4x in videos), among other functions.
For those familiar with drones, this information is too basic, but it is essential for those who dare to fly one for the first time. In this first flight, we recommend starting with three shots that cannot be missing in a good drone recording: a video in which the a subject in the foreground to raise the drone and enjoy the landscape from above; the typical overhead shot in which the drone starts at ground level focusing on the subjects and climbs to its maximum height (120 meters); and another plane in which using the ‘joysticks’ with a little skill you can rotate on an element, always keeping it in the center of the image. Three simple resources to record and that result in film shots.
But beyond this ‘manual’ test, the Mini 4 Pro offers other intuitive methods preset recording for users to give free rein to creativity, such as Spotlight, Point of Interest and ActiveTrack 360° (This object tracking option is spectacular in moving shots). These modes allow users to maintain focus, avoid obstacles, and achieve smoother, more stable tracking thanks to obstacle detection.
Another element that is fundamental is safety during flight and, for this, the Mini 4 Pro has omnidirectional obstacle detection, using multiple wide-angle lenses and a pair of bottom-view sensors to detect obstacles in all directions (and beeping when we approach any obstacle). This is complemented by the Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS), which makes the drone automatically brake and avoid obstacles, which improves flight safety exponentially.
HIGH-QUALITY IMAGES DESIGNED FOR SOCIAL NETWORKS
Once the drone lands and we have enjoyed this first flight experience, what we have to do is see the images and share them on social networks. For this, the QuickTransfer function is super convenient, which allows Quickly transfer photos and videos to your smartphone without pairing the remote control. From our mobile we preview everything and download the plans that look best.
The image quality is surprising for a lens of such small dimensions. The Mini 4 Pro offers a cutting-edge imaging system with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, a new image processing platform and native dual ISO fusion. Its f/1.7 aperture, 48 MP image resolution, 4K/60 fps HDR video and 4K/100 fps slow motion recording capture moments in incredible detail. Additionally, an improved noise reduction algorithm in ‘Night Shots’ video mode delivers clearer, sharper videos, even in low lighting.
Another important advantage of this model is the possibility of change the orientation of the lens, allowing the recording in vertical format (the most used on social networks). In this way, there is no need to do post-production tasks to adapt to this format, but we directly choose the vertical mode before starting to fly (with a simple touch on the button that appears on the main screen, just above the record button ) and ready.
And, in this way, we conclude with this first experience at the controls of a drone, which we have enjoyed from the very take-off, losing our fear and being aware that There are still many more options to unlock as we professionalize the use (modes such as Hyperlapse, panoramic photographs or MasterShots, among others). In short, realizing that creating these spectacular images is in the hands of anyone is incredible and, as we mentioned at the beginning, the only barrier is the price you are willing to pay for it.
